Approach

Our approach is client-specific and collaborative. Typically, we begin the process with a discussion about a client’s aspirations and intentions, followed by a site visit. The client’s space, style and aesthetics are key elements in establishing the direction we go.

Process of Looking

Following an initial dialogue, we select artists and galleries which match with the client’s taste and budget. Once we have a general understanding of where we are headed in the art acquisition process, we like to visit galleries and artist studios to see works in person.  We continue the process by accompanying clients to international art fairs, exhibitions, and auction previews.

Collection Focus & Philosophy

Determining the focus of a collection provides a guideline for making meaningful and valuable acquisitions. Whether the collection is purely driven by a love of art or for investment purposes, we make strategic decisions based on the intention of each client. We believe in a broad range of mediums - painting, photography, sculpture, video, or installation, bur the ultimate goal is to please our clients and to create a collection of lasting value.

Acquisition

With thirty years experience in the art world, our longstanding relationships with international gallerists, dealers, auction house specialists, and artists provide us with insight and access to both rare and highly coveted artworks. This, combined with annual art fairs, auction house sales, as well as museum and gallery exhibitions, present important opportunities for acquisitions.

We follow the careers of many up and coming artists so that our collectors can get in on the ground level. When possible, we also coordinate for works which are being considered to be installed on approval to our client’s homes. This allows collectors to engage with a work directly and make decisive acquisitions.

Collection Management

Following a purchase, kpeArts goes to great lengths to handle all matters relating to shipping and installation, lighting and framing, restoration, insurance, appraisals, and collection archives. We work with an extensive network of shippers, art handlers, conservators, and other fine art professionals to ensure the best possible care for our client’s collection. We also maintain a detailed database of all acquisitions.  By cataloging each work, we closely track every aspect of each client’s collection. Additionally, we provide necessary artwork appraisals, especially during times of significant market shifts. When collectors wish to deaccess a work in their collection, kpeArts will spearhead the process via auction houses and private sales with the intended best outcome.

Real Estate Staging

kpeArts also provides quality Art staging services for homeowners and Real Estate professionals. Art work can be installed for short term photo shoots, in addition to be leased throughout the selling process while a home is on the market. Kristin recently sourced and installed nearly thirty works of art in a $5 million home in Darien, resulting in a quick sale after it had been on the market for over a year. The right art can anchor a room and will often inspire buyers and capture the essence and beauty of a home. Art can often highlight architectural elements and help to showcase features of a house of any style.
