Kristin Peterson Edwards is a thirty-year veteran of the art world and founder of kpeArts. She is a private art consultant whose specialty is in primary market contemporary painting, sculpture, and photography. kpeArts provides a range of art advisory services including acquisition of new works, curatorial and collection management, as well as buying and disposing of art at auction. Every client is unique, and Kristin strives to fully understand their individual style, tastes, and goals.
Kristin received a BA in Art History and French Studies at Northwestern University and a graduate diploma in Contemporary Art from the Royal Academy of Art with Christie’s Education in London. During her studies, Kristin spent time working at the Museum for Women in the Arts in Washington, DC, the Weatherspoon Art Gallery in Greensboro, NC, and at Christie’s in Chicago.
After living in Paris and London, she established herself in New York at two of Manhattan’s finest galleries, Robert Miller Gallery and Cheim & Read. While at Robert Miller, Kristin worked with artists Louise Bourgeois, Gilbert & George, Al Held, Roberto Juarez, Alex Katz, Philip Pearlstein, Yayoi Kusama, David Salle, and Pat Steir, as well as with the estates of Diane Arbus, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Eva Hesse, Lee Krasner, Robert Mapplethorpe, Joan Mitchell, and Alice Neel. At Cheim & Read, she continued to engage closely with the artists Lynda Benglis, Louise Bourgeois, Louise Fishman, Adam Fuss, Jenny Holzer, Jack Pierson, and Juan Uslé, among others.
Since 2013, Kristin has been on the Board of the Block Museum of Art at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL and is on the Capital Campaign and Development Committees for the Bruce Museum in Greenwich, CT. She also sits on several local non-profit boards in Fairfield County, CT. Kristin is a member of ArtTable, Frieze 91, the Professional Organization for Women in the Arts (POWarts), and the Soho House.
In addition to advising clients, Kristin has also curated many exhibitions and coordinated visits to galleries, studios, private collections and museums in the New York area for individuals and groups. Kristin was recently honored to be the Co-Juror for the Carriage Barn Arts Center’s 2020 Spectrum exhibition in New Canaan, CT, the Judge for the Rowayton Arts Center’s Autumn Juried Show 2020, and a Co-Juror for the Loft Artists Association’s 77th Annual Tri-State Invitational Multiplicity: Psyche, Culture + Change in 2020, in Stamford, CT. Kristin has also organized monthly art excursions in NYC for the Greenwich Arts Society in Greenwich, CT. Over a decade ago, she began taking small groups of collectors to Art Basel Miami and from this experience she developed an art centered travel business focused on providing unique and exclusive art and culinary excursions. She has curated small group trips to cities including Berlin, Buenos Aires, Chicago, Copenhagen, L.A., Miami, Munich, New York, Paris, and San Francisco and is an Ambassador for Indagare, the luxury travel company.
